Moorgate Inc ("we", "our", or "us") built the TrashDay app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and your choices. It applies to the TrashDay iOS app, its widgets, and its Apple Watch app.
Information We Collect
Core scheduling works entirely offline, with no internet connection required. All collection schedules are built into the app itself.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it (it is shared between the app, its widgets, and the watch app using Apple's App Groups feature):
- Your setup — the town and collection route or group you select.
- Reminder preferences — your reminder time, which collection types you want reminders for, and your last-call and holiday-alert settings.
- "Bins are out" log — the days you've marked your bins as taken out, used to silence the last-call reminder.
- Subscription status — whether you have an active Premium subscription, so the widgets and watch app know what to show.
If you use the Apple Watch app, your settings are synced directly between your iPhone and your watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This sync happens on your devices only.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party. Notification permission is optional — you can allow or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → TrashDay.
Bin Night Live Activity
Bin Night Live Activity is an optional Premium feature that shows a Dynamic Island / Lock Screen reminder the night before collection. iOS cannot wake this reminder on a schedule while the app is closed, so when you turn this feature on, your device sends Apple's push token for it and the times you want to be reminded to a server we operate (hosted on Supabase). That server does nothing but hold this token and the reminder times, and uses Apple's push notification service to start the Live Activity at the right moment.
- No account, name, email, town, or route is ever sent — the push token is the only identifier, and it is issued by Apple and tied to your device, not to you.
- This data is used solely to start your Live Activity on schedule. It is never used for tracking, analytics, or advertising, and is never sold or shared.
- Turning the feature off, or uninstalling the app, removes your token from our server.
Household Sharing
Household Sharing is an optional Premium feature that lets you link your bin status with people you invite (like family in your home), so everyone can see — and mark — when the bins are out. This uses Apple's CloudKit (iCloud), not a server of our own: your invite, your household's put-out status, and the nickname you choose are stored in your iCloud account and shared only with the people you specifically invite to your household.
- We do not operate or have access to this data — it lives in Apple's CloudKit under your iCloud account, governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
- Only people you invite to your household can see it. It is never used for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
- Leaving or deleting a household removes your data from that shared space.
Purchases
TrashDay offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("Premium") processed entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Payment processing, billing, and subscription management are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We never see or store your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Third-Party Services
TrashDay uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and includes no third-party SDKs. The app interacts with Apple's App Store for purchases, Apple's CloudKit for Household Sharing, Apple's push notification service to deliver reminders and Live Activities, and Supabase, our backend hosting provider, which stores only the push token and reminder times described above for Bin Night Live Activity.
Children's Privacy
TrashDay is designed for a general audience. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; the limited data described above (a device push token, or an optional household nickname) is never linked to anyone's identity or used to identify a user's age.
Data Sharing
Your Choices
- Notifications — allow or disable in iOS Settings → Notifications → TrashDay.
- Bin Night Live Activity — turn off in the app's settings at any time to stop sending your push token to our server.
- Household Sharing — leave or delete a household in the app at any time to remove your data from that shared space.
- Subscription — manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Delete all data — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data and, if enabled, your Live Activity push token from our server.
